It has so many calming and soothing effects that is best for meditation if you practice it while doing yoga or before bedtime.  It is also great for adding a few drops in the tub while taking a bath, the experience will be stress relieve and lower levels of anxiety. Lavender Essential Oil Lavender is very soothing and calming essence. This essential oil is one of my favorites for giving fragrance to a room by diluting a few drops in a diffuser with water. Perfect for giving fragrance to a hot bath and increasing relaxation.  I use it also for my cat, he becomes a bit reckless being an indoor cat, so I learned the hard way that they love lavender scents.
